12/23/2018 Whaler-Canes 5, Bruins 3.

Fun win.
Not totally on-board with the Retro look, but if that is what it takes to get a Hurricanes win….
Kudos to the Canes for slamming back after going down 2-0 early on.
And, what a hit by Martinook in the first minute of the game!

My nephew was in town with his young lady, and we treated them to the game.  They had never been to a hockey game before, knew nothing about it, and fell hard for hockey.  We’ll do it again, I hope.

Largest crowd at PNC  since Opening Night, and that type of win is what it will take to bring them back and create more Caniac STM buyers.  Nights like the night before, the loss to Pittsburgh, will not fill seats with Canes fans.

Now….
On to Low-Hanging Fan Fruit that is withering on the vine.

Beating a couple of drums again:
1.  Fan Suppression.
When the crowd starts getting noisy, I truly wonder why the Canes management beats them down?  It is the routine.  Milk a rowdy Caniac crowd.  Cost Conscious?  Heck, it would be cheap.  And, really pretty easy.  Woo!

2.  Etiquette.
Management letting people re-enter at start of intermission to clog the stairs to the lower bowl is disrespectful to the fans with proper manners who stay in their seats until the horn.
So, some inconsiderate fan decides to stroll up the aisle and block the view with 2 minutes left in the period, to beat the beer lines.
Then, they are allowed to re-enter as soon as the horn blows and block the steps and the  fans who were considerate enough to wait for the end of live action.
Sunday night, 7 or 8 of them pushed down the steps beside me gridlocking the steps.  (I have an aisle seat.)
Easy, cheap, low-hanging fix, that will improve fan experience:
No re-entry until the fans coming up the steps have cleared out.

3. Brass Bonanza vs. a pathetic goal song.
Yeah, Baby.  I wasn’t crazy about Brass Bonanza when it was in the mix for goal song during pre-season.
But, hearing it five times, and seeing how the crowd enjoyed it so much more than Raise Up?
It really isn’t too late to fix our goal song mess.  Just do it.
